Adventure begins with monsieur Arronax the protagonist. He and
his butler Conseil were sought after for assistance by the US Navy while, they
were on their vacation, about a mysterious creature that have been destroying
all their Navy ships. While aboard the Abraham Lincoln the ship was
attacked. During the attack Monsieur
Arronax, Conseil, and Ned Land (the harpooner for the Abraham Lincoln) were
thrown overboard. After a day of being adrift in the ocean the creature
passed by and they held on. The creature had a metallic look upon it and a thick
hull. When they finally entered in the creature they were left in a dark room
for a day until the lights were turned on. After about an hour the ship’s
builder, captain, designer, founder, and funder walked through. Captain Nemo was
his name. He then explained to the men that they are aboard a submarine called
the Nautilus. The Nautilus was secretly built with parts shipped from all over
the world. It is able to reach speeds of +20 knots. It is faster and stronger
than any ship in the US Navy according to Captain Nemo.
My personal reaction
is that I’ve always wanted to read this story I just never had time to sit down
and comprehend what was being read. I find the book interesting to read and
filled to the brim with wonderful facts, stunning creatures that when seen in
person would take your breath away.
If I were to create
notes I would use cornel notes. Cornel notes make everything simple to go over
and easy to understand. They also organize the notes that you took automatically.
Cornel notes are took in a simple question and answer format. For example,
What is the
Abraham Lincoln? The fastest and the strongest US Navy
ship
Who is
Captain Nemo? The Captain, Founder, Funder, Designer,
and Builder of the Nautilus
